Decanter Macon Riedel
Code: RD201701Product detailed description
The Macon decanter , like the Margaux and Marne decanters from the same collection, is inspired by the shape of classic cognac or whisky bottles . At the first sight of its rounded bell shape, you can already feel the atmosphere of stylish bars and wine bars from the old days. At the same time, however, its simplicity tends towards the minimalism that is so popular at the same time, which will also attract all lovers of modern design.
The clean lines and shapes are simply a timeless element that forms the imaginary thread that connects product design across generations.
Rounded features following the shape of the bell along with a moderately straight neck. This is a hand blown Macon crystal decanter that has been designed with maximum simplicity in mind. Whether you're drawn to classic shapes or modern, clean style, the Macon decanter will always be a unique companion on your table, letting the wine itself play the starring role. Easy handling and practicality will be appreciated especially by those who find complexly shaped decanters too complicated. There is beauty in simplicity.
Collection M
In 2017, Riedel launches a collection of handmade crystal decanters "M" - Macon, Margaux and Marne, which are named after the wine-growing areas located in the south-west of France in the region of New Aquitaine. According to their creator, Maximilian J. Riedel's new shapes allow for gentle decanting and are thus very suitable for both vintage red wines and young white wines.
Their simplicity is very classic, but at the same time time timeless and modern. Maximilian Riedel himself says that the design of the "M" collection keeps up with the current trends towards minimalism: "Back to basics. Although Riedel decanters with double or triple decanting function are extremely practical, some people may find them too complicated to use. With the three new "M" decanters, we have taken a de facto step back and offer an alternative that fully reflects the spirit of the times."
Christian Moueix's reflection essay on decantation:
"Personally, I prefer decanting for both young and more mature wines. In the case of mature wines, decanting is an expression of respect; in the case of young wines, it is an expression of trust. Decanting mature wines shortly before serving ensures that the colour and clarity are not impaired by sediments that have formed in the wine during storage. Decanting young wines a few hours before serving will give the wine the opportunity to develop its bouquet, to acquire a degree of maturity that it would otherwise only achieve with years of storage."
