The compact hand-held sliding garlic grater Family from the Specialty series of the American manufacturer Microplane® is an invaluable tool for all lovers of spicy delicacies, from classic garlic spread according to a traditional family recipe to oriental Asian delicacies.

The finest result of garlic processing and therefore the most pronounced, for some even pungently aggressive taste, can be achieved with rasp graters (e.g. Microplane® Premium Classic). For a more structured puree, use a mortar and pestle or, in the case of shredding, the entire blade of a knife. You can also use a knife to create rubbed garlic with smaller and larger pieces. With the Microplane® Family sliding grater you achieve a beautifully textured, compact mass. A slightly different texture of similar coarseness can be obtained with the popular garlic press or by using conventional graters. The thickest pieces are then chopped with a knife.

Use the handy spatula to transfer the processed garlic straight into a bowl or onto a hot pan, without the risk of unwanted odours on your hands. The individual parts are easily cleaned by hand with a sponge and warm soapy water.
